I am Yousaf. I have Stage IV Wilms Tumor. I need your HELP!

Yousaf s/o Ibrahim Yousaf a local small business owner in Peshawar. Living under the poverty line but a dignified citizen and like the majority of Pakistanis was keeping his head above the water, when he was struck by the devastating news of his 5-year-old son who was complaining of abdominal pain and was treated by local physicians as pinworms in the stomach for about 2 years.

Yousuf is a bright young boy, a brother, a son to a dignified hard-working parent, and a student who is loved by his peers and teachers but was suffering from constant abdominal pain on a daily basis.

He was not growing like his younger sister and peers, with failure to thrive, weight loss, fever, and night sweats, was taken to the hospital on the night before Eid ul Fitr 2022 and was diagnosed to have a very large Wilms Tumor 12 cm x 10 cm in Stage 4 with metastasis to the liver and not a case of pinworms.

Wilms tumor is rare cancer in children and affects 1-2 children in 1 million who will be affected, but it is still treatable and more than 90 percent live beyond 5 years of treatment. A family is devastated, and tears are running but the hopes are high, and a miracle is expected. This is a story of many children who are misdiagnosed and treated erroneously for their illness and diagnosed late in their illness. Yousuf’s father was devastated by this news on May 7, 2022, but determined and hopeful for his son to live and be cured.

Mr. Ibrahim was referred to Shaukat Khanum Hospital in Peshawar, Pakistan and he desperately reached out for help and was referred to the parent hospital in Lahore, Pakistan. Yousuf is now admitted to Shaukat Khanum Lahore and has been confirmed to have a Stage IV Wilms tumor treatment was begun on May 23, 2022, with chemotherapy and Yousaf is currently going through an unimaginable and a painful course of treatment and admitted to pediatric oncology and treatment with chemotherapeutic medication was started.

The oncologist has conservative recommendations to treat the tumor with chemotherapy and as the mass is a too large and advanced stage and if only the bulk of the tumor can be reduced then only the prognosis can be determined with possible debulking surgery if his overall health permits.

Yousaf is fighting for his life and is waiting for his doctors for the next course of chemotherapy that was scheduled for May 30, 2022 and has been administered. The parents are concerned as the cost is very high and the savings are drying up and Mr. Ibrahim has no income as the store is closed now while the parents tend to Yousaf and his needs. The parents of Yousaf are desperate for your help. This is another story like many citizens around the globe.
